Anstey Barton was built in 1824 by Thomas Anstey who migrated with his family to Tasmania from England.

Originally built in central Tasmania, three miles west of where the town of Oatlands now stands, Anstey Barton was the focal point for the business and social life of the district.

Ownership changed on a number of occasions and by 1979 Anstey Barton had been abandoned and become a ruin.

In 1987 Christina and Picton Hay purchased the ruins and removed the stone to Kettering. Rebuilding began in July 1993 and was completed in July 1995.

Anstey Barton is once again one of the great homes of Tasmania.
