"Beyond" was built in 1976 for Picton and Christina Hay by the famous Wilson shipbuilding family of Port Cygnet, continuing a family tradition spanning over 100 years.

Picton's great grandfather, grandfather and father had all owned Wilson-built vessels. Built from Tasmania's world renowned Huon Pine, "Beyond", a 42ft. cruising cutter, is the epitome of the art of wooden ship building.

Seaworthy and safe, "Beyond" has carried Picton ,Christina and their daughters around the globe. Exotic destinations such as the Galapagos Islands, Tahiti, Fiji, Cape Town, the Caribbean and London have all been ports of call.

In 1792 Bruni D'Entrecasteaux wrote in his log book about the waterway he discovered which now bears his name:

"On every side, we perceived bays of immense extent, all equally sheltered against the winds, with waves only along the shoreline. The high land covered with trees surrounding the bays promised depths of water uniformly good, and free of reefs. None of the navigators of the expedition had seen on their voyages an anchorage so vast and so safe: all the fleets of the world could assemble here and they would still leave great spaces to fill."

As you sail on "Beyond", you will find little has changed today.

At every turn, present day names evoke the memories of early explorers - Tasman's Head, Bligh Point, Cooks Corner, Mt La Perouse. Around each headland, a new and magnificent vista of bays, mountains, beaches and forest appear - truly a cruising paradise.
